The Professional Standards Council of Queensland was established under section 41 of the Professional Standards Act 2004 (Qld).

The Professional Standards Council of Queensland was constituted in 2007 with 12 members nominated by each state and territory Attorney General, as well as one nominee by the Commonwealth Assistant Treasurer.
