Comment on proposed Bar Association of Queensland Professional Standards Scheme

The Professional Standards Council of Queensland is inviting comments and submissions concerning a new professional standards scheme proposed by the Bar Association of Queensland.

The proposed Scheme will operate in Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, the Northern Territory of Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.

The Scheme is intended to commence on 1 July 2019 and may remain in force for a period of up to 5 years. It will apply to any barrister who holds a Queensland practising certificate issued under the Legal Profession Act 2007 (Qld), is a Class A Ordinary Member of the Association, and is insured under a complying and approved professional indemnity policy.
