Appointments to the Professional Standards Councils

The Professional Standards Authority is pleased to advise that Ministers have made two appointments to the Professional Standards Councils. The Councils are independent statutory bodies with powers to approve and supervise occupational association professional standards schemes across Australia.

The Commonwealth Assistant Treasurer has nominated Mr Peter Martin for appointment to the Councils, for a three-year term. The appointment of a new representative arose following the expiry of Mr Richard Shields’ term as the Commonwealth nominated member in August 2023.

The Victorian Attorney-General has reappointed Dr Pam Montgomery to the Councils for a three-year term, following the expiry of her previous term in June 2023.

At their December 2023 meeting, the Professional Standards Councils congratulated Mr Martin and Dr Montgomery on their appointments.

Ms Roxane Marcelle-Shaw, CEO of the Professional Standards Authority, extends a warm welcome to the new and reappointed Councils members and looks forward to supporting them in their important work to protect Australian consumers by improving professional standards.
